Snickerdoodles
Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cup sifted all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon sat
- 1/2 cup solid shortening (Crisco)
- 1/2 cup butter softened (1 stick)
- 1 3/4 cups sugar, divided
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Methods/steps
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper
- In a medium bowl, stir together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a large bowl beat shortening, butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add flour mixture to the shortening mixture,mix only until incorporated.
- Roll dough into 1 inch balls.
- In a small bowl combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Roll balls in cinnamon sugar mixture to coat. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
- Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly browned but still soft. Cool on pan 3 minutes. Remove to cool on a wire rack until cooled completely
