Italian Meatballs

Anyone say Meatball Sub?
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 Tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 2 Tablespoons fresh oregano
- 3 cloves garlic, minced and divided
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
Methods/steps
- Mix beef, parmesan, chopped basil, one-third of garlic and egg until well blended. Shape into 24 meatballs. (about 1 Tablespoon each)
- Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until evenly browned, turning occasionally. (about 5-7 minutes)
- Add onion and remaining garlic, cook for 1 minute.
- Increase heat to medium-high. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste and salt. Reduce heat; cover and cook until meatballs are thoroughly cooked. (160F)
- Stir in fresh basil.
