Ham with Red-eye Gravy
Description
My grandmother's Ham with Red-eye Gravy.This is a true Southern favorite. Serve with hot biscuits.
This recipe serves one. (1/3 pound ham each)
Ingredients
- 1/3 pound ham
- 1 Tablespoon flour
- salt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons coffee
Methods/steps
- Cut a piece of fat from the ham and melt it in a skillet. Add the ham and fry over medium heat until the edges are a little brown. Remove and keep warm.
- Turn the heat up to high and stir in the flour. Cook flour, stirring, until golden brown. Add 1 cup water, stirring constantly. Add the salt and coffee. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for approximately 5 minutes.Stir often to keep the gravy smooth.
- Return meat to gravy and heat.
