Green Beans with Basil
Description
You can substitute dill or thyme for the basil. If substituting dry herbs use 1 tablespoon instead of 2.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium red onion
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Methods/steps
- Cover green beans in water, cook for 5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain and set aside.
- Melt 1 tablespoon butter in olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chopped red onion and saute until tender. Reduce heat to medium, add minced basil and saute for 1 minute.
- Add green beans, cook, stirring often 5 to 8 minutes or until tender. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
