Grandma's Sour Cream Corn Bread
Description
When I was a child I used to watch my grandmother cook this recipe in a wood burning oven.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup corn meal
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 Tablespoons milk
Methods/steps
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Sift the corn meal and flour. Add the soda, cream of tarter, baking soda, salt and sugar, sift again.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan.
- Bake at 425 for 20 minutes.
