Fried Green Tomatoes

Description
My mom's fried green tomato recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup all-pourpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 4 medium-size green tomatoes, cut into 1/3 inch slices
- 4 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Methods/steps
- Combine egg and milk, set aside.
- Combine cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper.
- Dip tomatoes in the egg mixture; dredge in the cornmeal mixture.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Arrange a single layer of tomatoes in the skillet, cook until golden brown on each side. Remove from pan and set aside. Repeat with remaining slices. Add more oil if needed.
