Flax Buttermilk Pancakes
Description
Pancakes with a boost of Omega 3's from the flax.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup ground flax seed
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 cup low-fat buttermilk
- 1 whole egg
- 1/2 tablespoon canola oil
Methods/steps
- Combine four, flax, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix egg, milk and oil with a wisk
- Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients. Gentry stir until moisted, but do not over mix. Batter should be lumpy.
- Spray griddle or pan with nonstick spray. Cook pancakes on hot griddle.
Additional Tips
Serve with sliced strawberries, hot cinnamon applesauce or peaches.
