Divinity
This is Grandma White's divinity recipe. This was a huge treat growing up.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/3 cup light corn syrup
- 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 - 1 cup chopped nuts
Methods/steps
- In a medium saucepan combine first four ingredients. Cook until boiling, stirring constantly. Cook uncovered without stirring until temp is 255F (hardball stage)
- In a larage bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Pour syrup over egg whites in a slow stream. Continue beating until mixture holds shape.
- Stir in vanilla and nuts.
- Drop onto waxed paper
