Crockpot BBQ Pulled Pork
Description
5 ingredients make this the simplest meal to make for large crowds.
Ingredients
- 1 pork shoulder 4-6 lbs
- 1 cup apple cider
- BBQ sauce, We prefer store bought Jack Daniel's Sauce for this dish.
- Butter
- Onions
Methods/steps
- Trim the fat off of the pork and place it in the crockpot. Pour the cider over the pork and cook 4-5 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low. Personally I believe the longer it cooks the better it is.
- The last hour that the pork is cooking melt the butter in a large skillet and fry thinly sliced onions on low heat for about 30 minutes stirring often.
- Once the pork is tender and falls apart remove it from the crockpot and let it cool. Remove the bone and any fat you may see. Remove any remaining liquid in the crockpot and place the meat back in it. Mix in the bbq sauce. Use as much or little as you would like. Add the grilled onions and continue cooking on low for another hour or so.
Additional Tips
This is a perfect meal for crowds. Some may choose to have it on rolls while those who may be watching carbs can enjoy it on a plate with some coleslaw or chips. Also note that I left off the amount of the onions since the amount is a personal preference.
