Chili My Way
Description
There is nothing like a warm bowl of chili on a cold Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure how many this serves but it almost fills up a 7 qt. pot (approx. 25 cups). I always make extra to freeze. You can easily cut this recipe in half for a smaller amount.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds hamburger
- 1 large onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 large green pepper
- 5 Tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon cumin
- 1 Tablespoon oregano
- 1 Tablespoon basil
- 2 20 ounce cans diced tomatoes
- 1 can beef broth
- 1 6ounce can tomato paste
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne (more if you like it spicier)
- black pepper to taste
Methods/steps
- Brown hamburger in a large stew pot, breaking up meat until it turns gray. Drain grease. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours stirring occassionally.
- If you like it a little thinner just ad more broth or some water.
