Cantonese Stir Fry - Beef in Oyster Sauce
Description
Recipe for Beef in Oyster Sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound sirloin or top round steak sliced thin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons sherry
- 4 tablespoons beef stock
- 2 slices ginger root finely chopped
- 2 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon sugar
- pepper to taste
Methods/steps
- Rub beef slices with the salt and 1/2 tablespoon of oil.
- Mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, water, sherry and beef stock in a bowl until well blended. Set aside
- Heat the oil in a frying pan. When hot add the beef, spreading the pieces out, and stir-fry them over a high heat for 1 minute. Add the ginger, followed by the oyster sauce and sugar, and continue to stir-fry for 30 seconds. Pour in the sauce mixture from the bowl, and continue to stir-fry over a high heat for a further minute. Serve immediately
